A GearVendor overdrive unit allows the transmission output to be split with either a .78:1 ratio when engaged, or a 1:1 ratio when not engaged. These units are super heavy duty, they are rated for 25000 lbs towing!! They also are able to handle crazy horspower, they use them in funny car drag racers!

This is a typical kit for installation. The GearVendors unit bolts up on the rear of the trans and the kit comes with everything you need for "plug and play". It comes with all the wires, the wiring plugs in like phone jacks. The only thing it does not come with is the driveshaft, which needs to be sent out for shortening. The unit is about 18" in length so the driveshaft needs to get shortened.

One of the biggest benefits to the GearVendors overdrive unit is it allows the engine speed to be lower by 28%, at any given speed when it is engaged. That means that when it is engaged the engine will turn slower and should use less fuel. Another huge benefit when towing would be the ability to "split" gears. You may notice your truck or car sometimes revs too high in a lower gear, but lugs when in the next higher gear. This is especially true going uphill while towing. The GearVendors unit allows an "in between" gear which dramatically improves driveability.
