Tech-tip: When replacing pads or shoes, select the highest grade materials. Lower grade brake parts will usually make more noise and feel worse than the higher grade parts. Spending a little more on brake pads or shoes will ensure quiet, safe, dependable brakes for as long as humanly possible. Also don't forget to turn the drums or rotors, or replace as necessary, to allow the new parts to wear in properly.
